In June, the Northeast Kansas Area Agency on Aging partnered with Westar Energy and The Salvation Army to distribute free fans to those in need.
During the distribution event, 84 fans were given out to individuals who were elderly, disabled without air-conditioning, or unable to purchase fans. Westar’s annual local gift of fans is part of a $60,000 fan contribution distributed throughout the communities it serves. Approximately 5,600 fans will be given out to over 20 communities across Kansas and Missouri.
